My name is Djik Ouchiian. Just call me Jack.

I have been taking photographs on film for more than 30 years. Sometimes staged, often instinctive. This is not a portfolio in the traditional sense. It is a collection of fragments, gathered from years of observing people, places and the moments in between.

For more than two decades, I have worked in advertising as a Creative Director for clients such as BMW, IKEA, Vodafone and Visa. In that world, images are often planned, refined and carefully crafted to communicate a precise idea.

Here, things are more relaxed. I deliberately shoot on film. Not out of nostalgia, but because it makes me slow down and look more closely. Less control, more attention.

At a time when images are increasingly perfected digitally or generated artificially, I find myself drawn to the opposite. To the imperfect and the things that resist being calculated.

I am interested in the beauty of everyday life and sometimes in the absurdity that reveals itself when you look for long enough.
